Pudelpointer
CKC Sporting Group
Origin & History
The Pudelpointer was developed in late 19th century Germany by crossing the English Pointer with the German hunting Poodle (Pudel). This versatile gun dog was created to combine the Pointer's excellent nose and pointing instinct with the Poodle's water love, intelligence, and weather-resistant coat.
The breed was meticulously developed as an all-purpose hunting companion capable of pointing, retrieving, and tracking game on both land and water. Though rare outside Germany, Pudelpointers are highly prized by hunters for their endurance, trainability, and strong work ethic.
The Pudelpointer remains primarily a working dog rather than a show breed, maintaining its exceptional hunting abilities through careful breeding.
