Smooth Fox Terrier
AKC & CKC Terrier Group
Origin & History
The Smooth Fox Terrier originated in England in the 18th century, bred to flush foxes out of their dens during hunts. They were developed from a mix of terriers, including the now-extinct Old English Terrier, and possibly some Beagle and Bull Terrier bloodlines.
Known for their distinctive white coat with black or tan markings, Smooth Fox Terriers were prized for their hunting ability, courage, and endurance.
Today, while still capable hunting dogs, Smooth Fox Terriers are primarily kept as companion animals, valued for their intelligence, energy, and distinctive appearance.
