Origin & History

The Pharaoh Hound is an ancient breed that originated in Egypt over 5,000 years ago and was brought to Malta by Phoenician traders. This regal hunting dog is known for:

  • One of the oldest domesticated dog breeds
  • National dog of Malta
  • Unique "blushing" feature (nose and ears turn pink when excited)

Originally used to hunt rabbits in Malta's rugged terrain, the Pharaoh Hound combines athleticism with elegant grace. Their expressive amber eyes and joyful personality make them captivating companions.
