Origin & History
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog (Polski Owczarek Nizinny or PON) is an ancient herding breed from Poland, dating back to the 16th century. These intelligent dogs were bred to herd and guard flocks on Poland's lowland pastures.
Nearly extinct after World War II, the breed was revived by dedicated Polish breeders. The PON gained international recognition in the 1960s and has since become appreciated worldwide as both a working dog and companion.
Today, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs excel in various dog sports, obedience, and continue their traditional role as farm helpers while being beloved family pets.
